FABRICE.JPG

Furniture designer, cabinetmaker and master carpenter throughout the San Francisco and North Bay area, since 1989

I moved to Sebastopol in 1999 to have the space to build my own workshop in more quiet and creative surroundings.

Since moving to Sonoma County, I have been able to spend more time pursuing my passion, creating pedestal inlay tables and functional art.

I also continue to experiment with soft metal, wood inlays, and new mediums.

INSPIRATION:

I strive to combine my interests in science, engineering and visual art to create works that are functional and express movement in a refined design.

Currently, I find that my new work is related to flight and movement, such as birds gliding along hills.  I search for leaping lines in order to shape my table legs. I delight in integrating concealed compartments or movable extensions as part of the functionality of the work.

The shape of a bird in flight, the wings of a plane or perhaps the curve of a woman's body continue to inspire my work.

NOTE:

I want to extend a special thank you to Anne Landa Fourest who created my first website and who worked tirelessly to get my work out in juried shows, galleries and into private collections.  She is the reason why I am a recognized functional artist, without her passion and commitment for my work I would not be where I am today.  Merci!
